WATERFOWL HUNTING WITH K.O.C.
We at K.O.C. talked to many of Alberta’s outfitters that bring in non-residents and have chosen to only deal with 5 different outfitters. We looked at a few very important details such as:
- areas they hunt
- success rates the last two years
- how close to a major waterfowl fly-way they are
- hunting pressure
- quality of hunt (food, lodging, guides)
This made it easy in choosing who we represent. Some of you might be mainly interested in big Canada’s or just geese. Others prefer ducks and a few geese. One of our camps specializes in speckle bellies. This is a rare and exciting opportunity. Whatever you like, we will set it up. Most of our hunts are 3 to 4 days with the ability to come by yourself or with a group up to 8.
Field Shoots – Here we hunt food sources such as pea and grain fields. We use hidden blinds that are camouflaged and several decoys. This accompanied by some great calling can bring those big honkers almost right on top of you.
Hunts Over Water – Here we hunt from our floating blinds or from a hidden point or blind on shore. Decoys are commonly used as well to entice the birds to within range. This type of hunt is not limited to just early morning or late afternoon. All day action can be provided here. This method had “The Bird Hunting Report” print an article about one of the outfitters. He commonly shoots up to six species of ducks on a 3-4 day hunt.
The bag limits are generous here in Alberta, giving the wing shooter lots of action on a 3 or 4-day hunt. Shot shells can be purchased from most of our outfitters or from the local sports dealer.
Prices: Please email or call for details.
